CARITAS KAOLACK

SAHEL - SÉNÉGAL

Caritas Kaolack  was created in 1981. People in vulnerable situations occupy a preferential place in all of its activities, which justifies its participatory approach, supported by strong skills in social engineering. Its main activities consist of training, animation, awareness-raising, institutional and financial strengthening of producer organisations and family farms.

Solid Waste Management Project

Caritas Kaolack, supported by various partners, has recognised experience in the implementation of urban development projects in its intervention area since 1993. These various projects have contributed to better consideration and better management of the waste management by civil society organisations and the municipalities of Kaolack, Gandiaye, Kahone and Keur Madiabel. Five municipal organisations called Territorial Environmental Dynamics (DET) have been set up and provide local leadership and coordination of activities in the five beneficiary municipalities of the project. Local community initiatives are implemented by stakeholders for better preservation of the environment; process of orientation, reflection, consultation and establishment of operational waste management teams in each municipality; and to organise an international workshop for the exchange of experiences on waste management and reflection on the Just Ecological Transition (JET).
