LATIN AMERICA - BOLIVIE

The Loyola Cultural Action foundation was created in 1966 by the Society of Jesus, as an organisation aimed at promoting the integral development of historically marginalized indigenous and peasant populations. ACLO works in favour of a more democratic, united, just, equitable, intercultural and environmentally friendly society in interaction with “Indigenous Peasant Organisations” and urban populations from disadvantaged areas. In this regard, the use and broadcast of ACLO radio plays a strategic role supporting the work of the organisation in different areas: environmental preservation and adaptation to climate change, economic development and food security, construction of citizenship and autonomy in a participatory manner, research and advocacy on public policies.

The project is part of a Regional Territorial Development Program in the Southern Region of Bolivia where ACLO has had a significant presence for several decades supporting the development of indigenous, peasant communities and peri-urban neighbourhoods. ACLO supports indigenous farming populations in three protected areas in the south of the country (Iñao, El Palmar National Park and the Tariquía Flora and Fauna Reserve). Furthermore, it assists farmers in the peri-urban area of the city of Sucre (department of Chuquisaca) in the search for sustainable alternatives for development, and improvement of their
