LATIN AMERICA - BRÉSIL
The Articulação do Semiárido Brasileiro (ASA) is a network that defends, propagates and puts into practice a new approach in the relationship with the environment of the Brazilian semi-arid region. This approach involves in particular the development of public policies that meet the needs of the population in terms of access to water, land and appropriate technical assistance. ASA is a network made up of more than three thousand civil society organisations with very diverse profiles (rural unions, peasant associations, cooperatives, NGOs, etc.), which operate throughout the semi-arid region. The entities that make up the ASA are organised in forums and networks in the 10 states that make up the Brazilian Semi-Arid region. ASA's mission is to strengthen civil society in building participatory processes for sustainable development and coexistence with the Semi-Arid region based on cultural values and social justice.
Their project in the Resilient Communities (CoRe) focuses on the following activities:
- ASA National Meeting in 2024
- Training offer by ASA for the construction of water collection tanks
- Production of audio-visual tools on common goods in the Brazilian Semi-Arid region to raise awareness and generate debate in ASA's areas of action
- Promotion of spaces for exchange between local organisations from different territories around access to water in semi-arid environments and the protection of peasant seeds (an exchange is planned with Sub
